Call for Special Session Proposals

IEEE Power India International Conference 2026 (PIICON 2026), the 12th edition in its prestigious series, invites professionals, researchers, academicians, and industry experts to propose Special Sessions (SS) on emerging and advanced topics related to power, energy, electric grids, and e-mobility.

Conference Theme:
“Sustainable Power and Energy Solutions for Future Electric Grids and E-Mobility.”

Benefits of Special Sessions:

Special Sessions provide an opportunity to focus in detail on particular emerging topics that may not be fully reflected in the regular conference tracks, or represent specialized working fields where researchers wish to meet and discuss recent advances, challenges, and future directions.

Important Dates (Special Sessions):

• Last Date for Submission of Special Session Proposals: 30 March 2026
• Notification of Acceptance of Special Sessions: 10 April 2026

Proposal Content:

If you intend to propose and organize a Special Session, please include the following information:

1. Title of the Special Session
2. A brief description of the area of focus (approximately 300 words), clearly explaining why the topic is interesting, timely, and significant
3. Names and contact details of Special Session Chair(s) (minimum 2 and maximum 3), including short background/bio of each organizer
4. List of potential authors with affiliation and contact details (minimum 10)
5. List of potential reviewers with affiliation and contact details (minimum 10)

Special Session Organization:

Once approved, it is the responsibility of the Special Session organizers to:

• Publicize the Special Session among researchers and practitioners
• Attract a sufficient number of quality paper submissions
• Coordinate the review process in coordination with the Technical Program Committee

Review Process:

Papers submitted to Special Sessions will undergo the same peer-review process as regular papers.
Special Session Chairs are responsible for organizing the review process and ensuring at least three independent reviews per paper, using qualified reviewers.

Conflict of Interest:

Before starting the review process, Special Session organizers must explicitly declare any conflict of interest. A conflict of interest arises when organizers are authors or have close association with the authors of a submitted paper. Such papers must be marked in the submission system and handled independently by the Technical Program Chairs.

Minimum Requirement:

Each Special Session must have:

• At least 10 accepted and registered papers
• Papers coming from authors of at least 4 different institutions

If a session does not meet the minimum requirement, accepted papers may be merged into regular sessions.

Complimentary Registration:

At least one organizer of each successful Special Session must register and attend the conference and chair the corresponding session.

Organizers of a successful Special Session will receive one complimentary full registration, provided the session has at least 10 accepted and registered papers not authored by any of the organizers. Per 10 accepted and registered papers complimentary registration will be multiplied (ex: for 20 papers there will be 2 registrations for free).

Session Chairs:

Special Session organizers will serve as Session Chairs during the conference.
In exceptional circumstances, the Technical Program Chairs or General Chairs may appoint Session Chairs if organizers are unable to attend.

Restrictions:

During the review process:

1. A) An individual cannot be (co-)author of more than two papers in the same Special Session
   B) From one organization, maximum two organizers are allowed in a Special Session
   C) Maximum number of organizers in one Special Session: 3
   D) Minimum number of organizers: 2

Paper Submission Format:

• Maximum 6 pages
• Must follow the IEEE Conference Template
